Suspended sentence in death case

by isleofman.com 13th June 2006
A 28 year old man who appeared for sentence on a charge of causing death by dangerous driving has been given an 18 month prison sentence suspended for two years.

Andrew Galka from Howe Road in Onchan admitted causing the death of Laura Mae Beattie when he crashed head-on with her car on the Mountain Mile.

The court heard Galka overtook the vehicle in front of him and "simply froze" when confronted with Miss Beattie's car.
