Objections to Sellafield

by isleofman.com 13th June 2006
The Island will continue to lodge objections with the UK government over the nuclear reprocessing plant at Sellafield. That is according to Dr Paul McKenna of the government’s public health division.Despite protests from the Isle of Man, Ireland, Norway and other countries worried about safety, the UK government says the THORP plant can reopen later this year subject to safety checks after it closed following an accident last year. Dr McKenna says the Manx government objected to the operation from the start and will keep trying to persuade the UK to close the plant. Pictured is the THORP plant at Sellafield
