We have a spectacular visitor in Douglas today and one doubtless one we would love to get on our super yacht register. The Sojana just about qualifies.
The Farr 115 cruising ketch is one of the largest sailing yachts ever built in Cowes, her registered port.
She was launched in September 2003.
This ?8.7 million carbon fibre yacht, which should reach speeds of 25kts in the right conditions, was built using a pre-impregnated carbon laminate and Nomex honeycomb core, similar to the technology used in America's Cup yachts.
Sojana is an acronym of the names of owner Peter Harrison's three grandchildren and has a permanent crew of five.
In racing mode, she will require 27 professional race crew. She is available for luxury charter.
Sojana has a 144ft main mast and mizzen mast.
She’s on passage from the Caribbean to Cowes and Douglas was the natural stopping place.
