Calls for McGuinness to be honoured in home town

by isleofman.com 15th June 2006
John McGuinness could soon be in for even more fame – with a campaign to honour him in his hometown.

The eleven-times TT winner is at the centre of a drive by a local newspaper calling for him to be given the freedom of Lancaster and Morecambe by the city council.

Although he can’t walk anywhere in he Isle of Man without being mobbed by adoring fans, Matt Donlan of the Lancaster and Morecambe Citizen says he’s virtually unknown where he lives.

He hopes the campaign will change that.
