The DHSS says a survey which shows Isle of Man pensioners are the best-off in Britain could have been skewed by the number of people who work for the government.
The study by researchers at Fidelity says more people in the Isle of Man have final salary pension schemes compared to elsewhere in the UK.
Deputy Director of Pensions David Braide says the government already makes more provision for pensioners than in the UK.
But all government workers are offered final salary schemes – potentially skewing the results.
