The Isle of Man has had a massive boost to its tourism sector by winning the largest single conference to come to the Island in the past decade.
The Royal British Legion conference for 2010 will be staged here after conference delegates voted 347 to 141 in favour of the Isle of Man over Birmingham.
A delegation of 11 Royal British Legion members, headed by Ellis Killey the chairman of Isle of Man 'County', supported by the Department of Tourism and Leisure, were successful in persuading delegates in Blackpool over the bank holiday weekend, to vote for the a return to the Isle of Man after an absence of 22 years – the last conference was held in Douglas in 1988.
