Bellis wins Manx Road Race Championships

Commonwealth Games rider Jonny Bellis won this weekend’s Isle of Man Road Race Championships.

Bellis won the event in convincing style, back home from recently finishing 13th overall in the U.C.I. junior tour of Switzerland. The 17 year old went clear on his own with 10km remaining up the Bride Hill to ride to his first Senior Isle of Man Championship.

Andy Cook was second and the improving Ashley Whipp was 3rd.

Meanwhile, Junior Peter Kennaugh was an impressive fifth in the Senior National Criterium Championships. The winner James Taylor followed by Tony Gibb and 16 year old Adam Blythe.

Caley Ennett and Caroline O'Neil took part in the women's National Circuit Championships on Saturday. Caley finished 21st and Caroline came home in 31st position.
