New parking strategy needed - Downie

by isleofman.com 19th June 2006
Trade and Industry Minister Alex Downie (pictured) has called for a new strategy to tackle the Island’s growing problems of traffic and parking.

Speaking after a DTI initiative in Laxey was held up in the planning process over parking issues, he says it’s important to protect the transport infrastructure.

Economic growth could be at risk if future business developments are stymied by a lack of parking and gridlock on the Island’s roads.

He called on the Department of Transport to come up with a plan to ease the problems.
