Advice to Government on spending

The Isle of Man government needs to take a more business-like approach to its spending.

Treasury Minister Allan Bell says this is the best way of stopping projects going over budget.

The Island has experienced 21 years of continuous growth and the government's annual budget is ?160 million higher than it was five years ago.

But Mr Bell says this cannot go on forever and the Island needs to be prepared for dips in the world economy.

This would start with better housekeeping within the public sector:
