Island unlikely to be hit by gas price increase says Minister

Trade Minister Alex Downie has agreed that the Island could be subject to
gas price increases, as a consequence of using the Bord Gais Eireann pipeline off the West Coast.

But it would not be as a consequence of fears raised in a Tynwald question from the Michael member David Cannan.

Mr Downie said reports of a big price rise demand, which had been put to the Irish Gas Regulator, would only hit domestic Irish users.

But if gas demand was to fall in Ireland, the Manx portion of the costs for operating the pipeline would rise, he admitted:
