Slow morning at Ronaldsway

There was a problem with staffing at the airport this morning (Tues).

The difficulty was within air traffic control, where there was a shortage of controllers on duty, leading to a reduction in the number of flights that could be handled.

At one busy stage this was down to six movements an hour.

Airport Director Phil Pain says an unfortunate set of circumstances including a controller callling in sick this morning meant that there were only two controllers on duty.

However, the situation is now back to normal with a full afternoon shift, and Mr Pain denies that there is a shortage of air traffic controllers on the Island:
