A 40 year old man has been bailed until July 11th by the High Bailiff for reports.

John Robert Johnston of Fairways Drive, Santon, admitted assaulting John David Roberts and being disorderly on licensed premises.

The incident occurred at around 10.15pm on May 19th at Fiesta Havana bar and restaurant, where Johnston struck Mr Roberts on the face and then punched him again with force on the jaw.

Johnston was arrested and told police that he thought Roberts was stealing his girlfriend's handbag and that Roberts was going to assault him.

He has been warned that custody is very likely.
