Cannan upset by Tynwald decision

Members of Tynwald have voted not to call the parents of children at the soon to be closed Jurby Special School Unit to come to the bar of the court.

The move had been requested by Michael MHK David Cannan.

Yesterday, the Education Minister David Anderson was handed a 2000 name petition, protesting against his department's decision to transfer children to another facility.

However the request for a hearing failed by 14 votes to 9 in the Keys and 5 to 4 votes in the Legislative Council.

A clearly upset Mr Cannan (pictured outside Tynwald) lambasted the court for its decision:
