Eighteen year old drops in as she sails round the UK (and the Isle of Man!)

by isleofman.com 23rd June 2006
An 18 year old from Lichfield is due to arrive shortly on the Island as she sails round the UK.

Katie Miller set sail on the 23 April in aid of The Ellen MacArthur Trust, and her next stop is the Isle of Man. Portsmouth-based, Raymarine is sponsoring The Challenge 2006. The company has donated products to ensure Katie can navigate, communicate and have a break now and again while on board.

For the technically minded, Raymarine has donated two Ray 101E VHF Radios for Katie and the shore team to use, ensuring they are in constant contact with each other, a RC400 Chartplotter, which is a portable GPS chartplotter, and a ST4000 Tiller Pilot, to allow her a welcome break from the helm.

Katie, whose arrival in Manx waters is dependent on weather, aims to raise a minimum of ?10,000 for The Ellen MacArthur Trust in The Challenge 2006. The voyage will take approximately three months and will cover about 2,300 miles.
