Asbestos stored in Foxdale

by isleofman.com 23rd June 2006
Local Government and Environment Minister John Rimington says there’s still seventeen tonnes of hazardous waste being stored in sealed containers in Foxdale.

He revealed the figure in a written answer to a question in Tynwald this week from Middle MHK Martyn Quayle.

Mr Quayle asked what had been done with non-incinerable or hazardous waste since the closure of Wright’s Pit at the end of 2005.

Mr Rimington (pictured) said most had been buried in the landfill site at Turkeyland, but some asbestos waste was being stored at DC Crowe Skip Hire while the government waited for the re-opening of Wright’s Pit.
