The Council of Ministers is being asked to give an update on progress towards introducing the Isle of Man's own immigration legislation.
The request has come from Onchan MHK Peter Karran, who wants the new laws to be ready to go before the legislature as soon as possible after the general election in November.
He says it's important for the social fabric of the Island that a reliable mechanism is brought in for dealing with immigrants.
