Picnic in the park in Castletown

by isleofman.com 24th June 2006
Castletown residents are gearing up for today's (Sunday) Picnic in the Park and Sports Day.

The event is part of the town's annual festival, which is now in its 50th year and, as usual, it will culminate with the crowning of the festival queen.

This time the selection process will differ from previous years, as local MHK and festival organiser Tony Brown explained (audio file attached)

The event gets underway at Poulsom Park at 1.30pm.

Another highlight will be the frog race down a stretch of the Silverburn, from about 4.15pm.
