Former Home Affairs Minister survives vote of no confidence

A special sitting of the House of Keys to debate a report into the actions of Cheshire Constabulary appears to have brought the matter to a close. Members voted to receive the report and implement its recommendations.But that wasn't before a motion of no confidence was brought against the former Home Affairs minister Phil Braidwood - a move he survived by 14 votes to nine. The so-called 'brown envelope' affair dominated yesterday's debate. It contained a statement by Detective Inspector Rob Kinrade in response to a police investigation. Select Committee chairman Phil Gawne (pictured) says there have been no winners in the whole affair - and the former police officer was the chief loser:
