A series of cost reduction measures for the Island’s meat plant have been welcomed by the Agriculture Minister.
The Fatstock Marketing Association’s identified reductions worth ?62,000 in the current financial year and a further ?183,000 per year from 2007/08.
Phil Gawne (pictured) says the savings are great news for consumers and farmers as the industry prepares for a profitable future, despite the loss of the red meat derogation in 2011.
He’s also reassured by the strategic approach of the Association’s executive committee and has praised the impact made by managing director, Phil Teare.
