Manx Harriers finished second in the latest Northern Athletics League Division Two West match at a hot and sticky Bolton. The fixture was interrupted by a thunderstorm but the result has given Harriers a great chance of avoiding relegation as they are now fourth from six in the overall standings.
Star performer was Ben Brand who set a new Manx Junior Men’s record in the 400m. Ben finished 2nd in the race in a time of 49.9 seconds beating Brian Cowley’s previous best dating back 36 years!
Other winners from the fixture were Tom Riley in the 100m in 11 seconds and the 200m in 22.9 secs. Shaun Cregeen tasted victory in the 110m Hurdles “B” race, Michael Haslett won the 400m Hurdles in 58.8 secs, and John Halligan and Darren Gray were comfortable winners of the 5000m “A” and “B” events in 15mins 52.9secs and 16mins 40.8secs respectively.
