Tynwald Day ceremony highlights

The Tynwald Day ceremony has been carried out in perfect conditions

The Island's National Day has been blessed with fine weather, after last year saw many of the dignitaries suffer a soaking in heavy rain.

Speaking at the fair field, Tourism Minister David Cretney says it's an important day for him and his family: (first audio clip)

However, Mark Kermode, chairman of Manx Nationalist party Mec Vannin, says he believes the Tynwald ceremony has lost it's significance to the Manx people: (second audio clip)

The Lieutenant Governor arrived at Tynwald on schedule at 10.40am and was greeted moments later by a flypast of three RAF Hawk jets: (third audio clip)
