Watts fined for threatening behaviour

A 41 year old man has been fined ?350 by the Deputy High Bailiff.

Jonathan Matthew Watts of Lakeside Road, Douglas, admitted using threatening behaviour likely to cause a person to believe that unlawful violence was likely to be used.

Sergeant John Manley, prosecuting, said there was an incident in Colours Nightclub at 1am on May 26th when the defendant made abusive comments to Paul James Fox.

Both men made went outside, where Fox was punched in the face by Watts who accused him of conning his ex-wife out of money.

Security staff called police and detained Watts who started to struggle and had to be handcuffed.

His advocate said the defendant admitted he accused Fox of conning money and said it was Fox who invited Watts outside, and feeling intimidated the defendant punched him.

He said what happened was completely out of character.
