Record number of petitions

by isleofman.com 5th July 2006
What's thought to be a record number of personal grievances in the form of so-called Petitions for Redress of Grievance, have been handed in to the open air Tynwald ceremony today.

As many as 17 documents from members of the public on a variety of topics will now be examined to see if they can progress.

Once that hurdle has been cleared they will have to attract the attention of an MHK to go any futher.

In the past the vast majority of petitions have not been picked up by members.

They can range from planning mattters to greiveances over the treatment of individuals by government.
