A spokesman for the Preservation of the Manx Countryside says there are many reasons why residents of Derbyhaven are concerned about a proposed 21 home development in the area.
The matter was the subject of one of the record number petitions for redress of grievance presented to Tynwald yesterday.
The residents say landowner Graham Ferguson Lacey had agreed not to proceed with the scheme, if they didn't oppose his plans for a mansion house.
The mansion house was approved but plans for the housing development were also submitted and approved at review stage.
Charles Flynn, who handed over the petition on behalf of the residents, says the residents believed they had a Section 18 agreement under the town and country planning act - which was a voluntary agreement with Mr Ferguson Lacy - but it seems that whilst the planning committee didn't know anything about the agreement, the planning officers did, and the matter needs to be cleared up:
