Rosemary Burnett, prosecuting, said a member of security staff saw smoke coming from the Swing Easy kitchen at 2.40am on June 6th.
On opening the door he saw a cloud of white powder which had come from a fire extinguisher.
CCTV footage showed the defendant was responsible and when he was arrested he said he'd hit it and it had gone off.
Mrs Burnett said the cost of cleaning the kitchen was ?1750 plus VAT, and because the kitchen had to close for three days during the TT period there was a loss of ?500 income.
The defendant's advocate said that he had been out with friends and had consumed a large quantity of alcohol. He went to find the toilets but found himself in the kitchen where he played with the fire extinguisher, causing it to go off.
Graham had written to the hotel and apologised.
Mr Montgomery ordered Graham to pay compensation of ?2,500.
