A senior bank manager who flew illegal immigrants to the Island has appeared in court this morning (Thursday).
The case of Pieter Van Rooyen has been adjourned until August the first.
He admits faking documents to allow the men in.
Mr Van Rooyen flew five men to the Island to carry out work on an Onchan property.
He paid them 'slave wages' and wouldn't allow them out unaccompanied.
An earlier court heard the 46-year-old faked an invitation and provided travel, false documents, accommodation and subsistence for the men who have since returned to South Africa.
The case was adjourned after defence advocate, Laurence Keenan, said the offence the defendant had been charged with may not exist under Manx law… and he stressed the Island was ten years behind the UK regarding deportation legislation.
