Higgins remanded

A 38 year old man who admitted driving whilst disqualified, drink driving and driving without insurance has been remanded in custody by the Deputy High Bailiff.

Peter Juan Higgins of Greeba Avenue, Glen Vine,did not want bail.

Rosemary Burnett prosecuting said Higgins was seen by an off-duty officer who knew Higgins to be disqualified, to get in a car in Union Mills and drive towards Glen Vine.

The off-duty officer followed the defendant's car and requested the attendance of other officers after he became concerned about the manner in which it was being driven.

Police attended Greeba Avenue and arrested Higgins, who provided breath samples which gave a reading of 126 milligrammes. The legal limit is 80mg.

He was remanded in custody until July 25th
