An inquest into the death of a well-known advocate has been opened and adjourned.
38 year-old Caroline Weatherill died at the end of last month, just three days after giving birth to twin girls.
She was a senior associate with the law firm Dickinson Cruickshank.
Coroner Michael Moyle began this morning by explaining the reason for holding an inquest was to give Mrs Weatherill's family a degree of closure in being able to plan her funeral, and not because he anticipated her death would require a full inquest. He said it was certain that Mrs Weatherill died of natural causes, but he adjourned proceedings until all test results have been concluded. Her body has been released.
Mr Moyle said he knew Mrs Weatherill in a professional capacity, and described her as "a delightful and charming lady", who had a promising future ahead of her.
He said the fact she had just given birth to twin daughters was very upsetting, and he said the Island's thoughts would be with the family at this time.
Mrs Weatherill also leaves her husband Lawrence and two young sons.
