Civil Service pensions row

A senior Manx politician is accusing the government of an ostrich-like approach to dealing with a looming crisis over Civil Service pensions.

Eddie Lowey MLC wants a committee to be set up to examine the shortfall to fund pensions.

He says any solutions may have to be radical.

A big reduction in the size of the Civil Service is one suggestion, while another is to restrict numbers joining the pension scheme in future.

Mr Lowey (pictured) says the problem simply can't be ignored:
