Singer backs pier

There will be a further call to restore the Queen’s Pier this week.Leonard Singer MLC will ask Tynwald to insist it is brought up to the standard applicable to that of a listed building in private ownership.Last month, a decision on the pier’s future was put off after it was agreed for the Council of Ministers to study a select committee report on the issue.It will report back next February.However, Mr Singer, believes more urgency is needed and says the Department of Transport could have restored the Victorian structure some time ago, at a significantly lower cost:
