In Fleetwood at the weekend, the Island's four-girl team of Crown Green
bowlers made it a hat-tick of victories in the Junior Ladies County
Championship.
Though they had to battle long and hard to gain top-spot in their
round-robin group - crucially beating the strong Yorkshire side by just 2
chalks - their semi final opponents were no match for the girls as they
whitewashed Shropshire 2 by 4 games to nil and by 60 chalks to 38.
Then in the final against North Lancs and Fylde, they again gave a faultless
and nerve-less display of bowling and in doing so they gave their opponents
little chance. Castletown's Hannah Kermode won 15-8 in the final and this
was soon followed the South Ramsey pair of Shelley Kennish winning 15-12 and
Jenny Moore by 15-8 and finally Rachel Quirk from Nobles Mixed came off with
a 15-11 win to joyous scenes from the big Manx support.
