No new MEA inquiry says Gelling

There are no immediate plans for an independent inquiry into the finances of the MEA.

Chief Minister Donald Gelling has confirmed that he doesn't believe such a move would be worthwhile

The matter was raised again in Tynwald questions this morning by Onchan MHK Peter Karran (pictured).

The long running saga reared its head yet again in Tynwald Questions this morning as Onchan MHK Peter Karran tabled three questions on the issue.

Mr Gelling took exception to Mr Karran's suggestion that there had been a "smoke screen" to cover what he referred to as the "incompetence and self interest" of the Council of Ministers, and asked that he produce evidence of such self-interest.

He said further investigation into the matter would be pointless:
