Bereaved parents want controls on young drivers

The family of a 17 year old who died after an accident at Alpine Corner near Ballaugh last May say they don’t support calls for an all-Island speed limit.

Leigh Robinson was sentenced to two years in prison for causing the death, by dangerous driving, of Aalish Patterson.

Aalish’s parents said although they were asked to lend their support to a petition backing a 60 miles per hour limit, their concerns lay elsewhere.

Her father Graham Dimelow says in particular he’s more worried about the number of young drivers in fast, powerful cars:
