Former Health Minister Claire Christian MLC has come under attack in Tynwald from North Douglas MHK John Houghton.

During the ongoing debate on the childcare report, Mr Houghton said that when he was in the DHSS he urged Mrs Christian to take some action over problems in childcare, but his views were met with an attitude of ignorance and denial.

He told Tynwald that Mrs Christian (pictured) knew what was going on, but did nothing.

Mr Houghton claims that his approach led to his removal from the Department.

When providing evidence to the inquiry, Mrs Christian pointed to the Ministerial code which forbids Ministers to instruct civil servants to do things they should not do.
