More public car parks outside Douglas?

Providing more public car parks outside Douglas could help boost the economies of Peel, Ramsey and Castletown.

That's the verdict of an annual government report on economic initiatives.

But despite the report's emphasis on the need for more parking, there is currently no policy, strategy or funding for public car parks in the Island.

Speaker of the House of Keys and Castletown MHK Tony Brown (pictured) says the problem is meeting public demand for free parking (audio file attached):

Treasury Minister and Ramsey MHK Allan Bell controls the government's purse strings.

He says parking is just one element of a much bigger effort to regenerate the Island's regions (audio file attached):
