Football the winner at Douglas Road

by isleofman.com 15th July 2006
English Championship side Barnsley ran out 4-1 winners against Peel in a high profile friendly match at Douglas Road on Saturday afternoon.

However, the main winner was the Tommy Clucas Memorial Fund as proceeds from the match, plus a day and evening of fundraising events, was donated to the charity – set up in memory of the former Peel player and Manx Grand Prix star who was killed in September 2004.

Barnsley manager Andy Ritchie, a regular visitor to the Island with his former club, Oldham Athletic, says it was a worthwhile cause.
