An interpretation by Manx National Heritage of tourist arrival figures for the past five years has provoked an angry reaction from the Minister for Tourism and Leisure, David Cretney.
In a written reply to a Tynwald question, MNH said the total was down ten per cent, while visitors to its own sites were up by fourteen per cent in the same period.
However, Mr. Cretney (pictured) says the true figure was a fall of only 4.6 per cent, because MNH left out an important visitor category (audio file attached):
