Gateway Games a resounding success

by isleofman.com 17th July 2006
The seventh Gateway Games was held at the NSC in glorious weather.

The junior specials won a very competitive afternoon of events that included athletics, football, handball and swimming.

The senior special Olympic team led the competition from the Gateway Gunners for most of the afternoon but the young specials were only a few points behind when they produced a fantastic performance in the football competition to take the lead.

With only swimming events to go, they held on to win overall by just one point from the Special Olympics senior team with the Gateway Gunners third and Gateway Magpies fourth.

The result was a tremendous confidence boost for the young winning team (all under 20 years old) who will represent the Island later this year in the European Championships in Italy.
