by isleofman.com 18th July 2006
A visually impaired Douglas man has an appointment with Her Majesty the Queen later today (Tuesday).

50 year-old Terry Hopkins, a member of Barclays' outbound sales team, will accept the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service on behalf of Sailing for the Disabled - Isle of Man.

Mr Hopkins has been involved with the Manx charity for 20 years and will be attending a garden party and awards ceremony at Buckingham Palace (pictured).

He’ll receive the award from the Queen in the company of three colleagues from the charity, chairman Alan Cope, his partner Marion Bolam and fellow fundraiser Joyce Quilliam.
