A local expert on terrorism says he believes there will be a ceasefire in the middle east within days.

Professor Roger Carey says the situation there is highly complex, with Lebanon having a deliberately weak government, which means any decision making is very difficult.

This has allowed the terrorist organisation Hezbollah to be drawn into the government process, although not all elements of the organisation are happy with this situation, and are trying to undermine it.

This has led to the kidnapping of Israeli soldiers, and massive retaliation.

However Professor Carey says he doesn't think this can continue long-term.
