Crews called out to grass fires

Fire chiefs in the Isle of Man are urging the public to help prevent grass fires breaking out during the current warm, dry spell.

Crews in the south of the Island were called out to numerous blazes last weekend - all were contained, but they could have spread quickly and almost all were preventable.

Divisional officer Kevin Groome says thoughtless actions are usually to blame.

And he says those who smoke in their vehicles should think twice before tossing the butt out of the window:
