Corkill trial adjourned

by isleofman.com 21st July 2006
High Bailiff Michael Moyle has granted an adjournment in the Julie Corkill trial.

The delay is due to the illness of a key prosecution witness. Will Kelly of contractors GC Construction suffered a heart attack after giving six hours of evidence on Tuesday.

In stating his decision Mr Moyle said he felt that justice would be best served by this decision.

No date has been fixed for the hearing, but defence advocate Dawn Jones stated that she would like to fix a provisional date of October 2nd.

She also made an application to call Colin Moore, Mr Kelly's partner in the firm, to give evidence to a conclusion BEFORE the adjournment, stating her concerns about Mr Moore's continued presence at the court house (pictured) and conversations with people present at court.
