"No early release for dangerous prisoners" - minister

Dangerous prisoners will not be released early, contrary to local newspaper reports.

That's according to Home Affairs Minister John Shimmin.

Mr Shimmin says any inmate's release is subject to strict conditions, and they are brought back to prison if any are broken.

He says each decision is carefully considered by the police, probation officers and the prison services (audio file attached):
