Isle of Man enjoy successful start to Umbro Cup

The Isle of Man women’s national team made a successful return to footballing action in the Umbro Cup tournament in Manchester.

A year after their last competitive fixture, the Manx team drew their opening match against Acton with a one-all draw.

The Island goal came from captain Gill Whittle.

They then followed that up with a 3-0 success over Liverpool Federal Reserves, courtesy of goals from Dawn Georgeson, Eleanor Gawne and Donna Harrison, before Harrison and Donna Shimmin secured a 2-0 victory against Chester City.

The Island has two more fixtures today (Sunday).
