MNH defends itself following attack in Tynwald

by isleofman.com 25th July 2006
Manx National Heritage is standing firm against political interference in its affairs. As the tourist season reaches its peak, the organisation has become embroiled in a bitter row over its structure and accountability. Peel MHK Hazel Hannan called for MNH to be made more 'politically accountable' and Tynwald this month agreed the organisation's structure should be examined by a governemnt committee. Manx National Heritage has issued a three page statement, robustly defending its autonomous position. Chairman Martin Moore (audio file attached): Industry Minister Alex Downie sits on the Manx National Heritage Executive. He voted against Mrs Hannan's resolution (audio file attached): (Picture: The Manx Museum, from iomguide.com).
