Discounted compost bins are being made available to the Manx public by the Department of Local Government and Environment.
The bins can be purchased from Eden Park Garden Centre and come complete with guidelines on the materials which can be put in them.
The department's Waste Minimisation and Recycling Officer, Joanne Hetherington, hopes this will encourage people to recycle their green waste.
She says it could have a significant impact on the amount of rubbish people put in their wheelie bins (audio file attached):
