Incorrect light bulb caused fire

Make sure you use the correct bulbs in your light fittings. That's the message from the Isle of Man Fire Service after two people were rescued from their flat in Douglas last night - when a fitting began to smoulder and melt. The cause - a 100 watt bulb had been used when the fitting stipulated a maximum 40 watt. Fire crews wearing breathing apparatus broke into the property in Lord Street and helped two occupants to safety. Divisional officer Tony Varley says their smoke alarm raised the alarm - as a potentially serious situation developed:
