'Death by dangerous driving' appeal fails

by isleofman.com 27th July 2006
A Douglas man, convicted of two counts of causing death by dangerous driving, has failed in a bid to have his seven year prison term reduced.

Shaun Webb was jailed in February for causing the deaths of 57 year-old Elizabeth Jane Corlett of St Mark’s and her 83 year-old mother Elaine Gawne.

The 35 year-old was driving without L plates, a licence or insurance when the tragedy occurred on the Ballamodha Straight in October 2003.

Deemster Kerruish and appeal judge Geoffrey Tattersall QC today dismissed the appeal.
