A woman who stabbed her boyfriend to death in Ramsey will have to wait until September to have an appeal against her sentence heard.
The Attorney General lodged an appeal after she was jailed for four and a half years on an admitted manslaughter charge.
Fifty year old Anne Marie Gosling killed Peter Ormiston at their home in King's Reach, Ramsey, in January 2004.
Jason Roberts reports (text from attached audio file):
Deemster Kerruish and Appeal Judge Tattersall heard technical legal arguments about whether UK or Manx law applied to Mrs Gosling.
She is currently serving her sentence at Low Newton prison in County Durham, sparking debate about which jurisdiction could transfer her to a psychiatric facility if necessary.
Richard Pratt, appearing for Mrs Gosling, said a new report from the jail’s psychiatrist says Mrs Gosling wouldn’t need to be treated as a hospital in-patient.
The hearing has been adjourned until September 25, when the new medical advice will be put before the court.
