West Douglas MHK John Shimmin says his constituents deserve to know he's intending to stand for Chief Minister.
The current Home Affairs Minister says he feels as if he now has the political experience to take on the job.
Mr Shimmin was one of those who declared an interest in the job when Richard Corkill resigned but drew back when Donald Gelling came forward.
